And that’s 42! Welcome to Peru

Saturday, 13 April 2024

As I land in Lima, Peru, I note with much happiness that this is the 42nd country I have visited. Poca a poca I will get to my goal of 100 countries visited!

Peru uses the Sol for currency and now I have to remember that 1 Sol is about $0.30 US. Time zone wise they have their own — Peru Time — which is the same as Panama. Fortunately with phones that set their own time automatically I rarely have to worry.

Tomorrow I get to spend the day in Miraflores district and explore here, tomorrow night I get to meet my new group for the next month.

I’m now carrying my bigger backpack, and my smaller one that served me so well as a primary is relegated to day pack — it’ll come to shine again in the Quarry Trail heading to Machu Picchu.

It’s not very full, maybe half or two thirds at the most, mainly because the actual really cold weather stuff is still with Freddy, he’s coming to meet me in Santiago in a month.
