Next up after this trip (Not until the 16th of March), I’m then going to Panama via the Caribbean side of Central America, and after that…

South American Exploration 

After that, (14th April) I have now booked my South American adventure, 30 days from Lima (Peru) to Rio, via Machu Picchu, an Amazon Jungle stop, Buenos Aires, and Iguazú waterfalls. 

I will be doing the Quarry trail from Cusco to Machu Picchu — a 3 day hike at altitude (only 3700m — 9,800ft). The Inca trail books out up to a year in advance, so it’s either the Quarry trail or the train, and I brought my hiking gear for a reason!

I’ve grabbed an Intrepid special price, but then offset that special with a single supplement again. I’m finding the ability to go back to my own room is a useful way to decompress and handle some of the more stressful days (my fidget cube gets quite the workout some days!). 

Medellin, Aruba, or Cuidad Perdida

I still have about 2 weeks between Panama City and the start of the trip in Lima, and I’ve been weighing up a couple of different options.

A teacher from Tico Lingo (hi Freddy!) wants to go to Colombia to see a friend of his in Medellin, and if he can swing the airfares for himself he has invited me along. I also need to visit Aruba, but that’s getting closer and closer and more expensive. And finally I want to do the hike through the jungle to Cuidad Perdida (The Lost City).

I could actually do all 3 in that time span, but it would be tight. I can do Cuidad Perdida almost any time of the year, so I might push it till after Rio de Janeiro if Freddy can swing the flights to Medellin.
